USPS
Forms and Information
The information provided below is general and not all inclusive.
It should get you started. If you have additional questions, please
contact us.
1. USPS APO/FPO - click
for general instructions
In addition to the above, the following items are prohibited:
- Flammable liquids & gasses (Butane Lighters, Lighter Fuel,
Spray Paint, Hair Spray, Matches, etc.),
- Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives (including Fireworks),
- Fresh food (requiring refrigeration),
- Prescription medications (Aspirin & OTC products are OK).
- Liquids (any) are restricted and require special packing (this
includes food items such as canned Soup). Contact us for specific
packing suggestions.
Note: home baked/cooked items, not requested, may be destroyed,
as a safety concern (check before you send).
2. All items should be "Shelf Clean", in manufacturers
original, un-opened package. Food items should be placed inside
a "baggie".
3. USPS Flat Rate boxes are free; available in 3 sizes (one rate
regardless of weight) - more
information here
Caution: shipping 1 oz. costs the same as 70 pounds. In some
cases, using a non-Flat Rate box will be more economical. Pack
fragile items carefully. Please note: there are size and weight
limits for all APO/FPO mail.
4. USPS Customs Form 2976-A is required for all packages going
to an APO/FPO address. The form is free at any Post Office.
5. Place two address labels on each box - main label on top side,
at lower-right; additional label on front-side (cover both labels
with clear package tape). Use only the address provided by the
Service person. Address label and Customs Form must have identical
names.
6. We suggest you include
a copy of the shipping label inside the box, in case the outer
labels are damaged.
