What is OPERATION CookieJar?

Operation CookieJar collects items and money to help our Troops. Every single item donated (must be an approved item - there are some restrictions) is sent to our Troops.

100% of all money donated is used for this effort. There are no administrative expenses, and no salaries are paid. Everything is donated, even gas to take the packages to the Post Office!

Our Troops overseas need all kinds of stuff not readily available to them, or provided by the military. They do have clothing, food (MRE’s), sleeping bags, weapons & ammunition, but we all know that it takes more than that. Post Exchanges (general store) are not always close by and carry only a limited number of items. Our Troops rely on families & friends to help them out.

Summer temperatures are usually over 115° Fahrenheit. Sand storms (Shamal) are frequent, and as bad as a blinding snow storm or thick fog. Very few Troops get to live in an air conditioned building, sleep in a regular bunk bed, get to shower every day, or enjoy a hot meal. Sand & dust is everywhere and in everything, and it stinks much of the time. That’s the good news.

The bad news is reported everyday by the mainstream media - you see it on the 6:00 O’clock news and in newspapers but they never tell what our Troops do to help the local people. They are building & repairing Hospitals and Schools, Stores & Shops, Roads, Power & Water facilities. They often play soccer and other games with area children, provide food, bottled water, medicines and other items to the needy and displaced people. Medical Corps often provide advanced procedures to the severely injured locals, many of whom are children and elderly, injuries that were caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s & VBIED’s).

Many of our Troops are very young, in their early 20’s, some as young as 18. Most have never been far from home before they volunteered for service. Let’s show them how much we appreciate the sacrifice they are making in order that others may enjoy the freedoms we take for granted, here at home. You have no idea how much a letter to a stranger in combat-torn Iraq or Afghanistan means, a pair of socks, a sheet for a sleeping bag, a bandana to keep the sun off their neck, etc. You can brighten the day for one of our Troops for less than the cost of that next DVD. Skip that next Pizza or Burger & Fries and help one of our Troops, instead. There are many who do not agree with the politics of this war, but we should not do so at the expense of our own American Troops. They’re our very own sons & daughters, friends & neighbors - Americans, all!

You can contribute in several ways; you may donate using CASH or CHECK, make a SECURE CREDIT CARD donation via PayPal®, send gift items, or both. You will receive a receipt and a Gift Card for your donation (return it with your Name & Address, if you wish, but we cannot guarantee a written reply). Your gift & gift card will be packed and shipped for you, no need to go to the Post Office. All items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail and require appropriate U.S. Customs documentation.

Make checks payable to: “Wells Fargo Bank - acct. 3495863791”.

In the Reno/Sparks Nevada area The Flag Store is a drop-off point for donated items.

Here is the Address:

The Flag Store
155 Glendale Avenue #9
Sparks, NV 89431

Operation CookieJar takes care of everything for you. Donated money is first used for packing materials, then Postage, then for the gift items. Items are checked to ensure their usability & fitness. Military, Postal Service and Mission Requirements determine suitability. Any item found “notsuitable”, for any reason, will be promptly returned!
